Abdul Rahman on trial in Kabul - On trial for rejecting Islam

Please pray for Abdul Rahman on trial in Kabul, Afghanistan for rejecting Islam. He became a Christian 14 years ago, and was denounced to the authorities last month by his family. According to the prosecutor, Abdul Rahman has been told that charges against him will be dropped if he will return to Islam, but he has refused to do so. The prosecutor also said that, if found guilty, he will be given the death penalty. This is in line with all five schools of Islamic law (shari’a) which agree in specifying the death sentence for an adult male Muslim who leaves his faith. Afghanistan’s constitution is based on shari’a. This case is regarded as setting a precedent that will show how strictly or leniently Islam will be interpreted in Aghanistan. Please pray that the Lord will intervene and Abdul Rahman will be allowed to live and keep his Christian faith.
